Is it a good idea or helpful to use the “news” tab on Google when finding a job in a specific field?
When you have narrowed your job search to a specific firm or field, Google’s “news” tab can be a wonderful resource. Companies will divulge information in press releases or news articles that are sometimes hard to find otherwise. Hirings, firings, marketing efforts, financial performance – all are fair game for the news. However, you have to realize that “news” is often slanted – the company wants to look good or the reporter is wanting a juicy story. So take what’s presented with a grain of salt.
Hi Frank
I just stumbled upon your article accidently. I think it’s very well written and to the point. And although I agree entirely with its content, I am missing the “value” part. That’s where the main focus is for me. From there on we can identify waste.
Cheers
